The Behavior Coach is able to provide support to students within the classroom, coach teachers on how to provide similar supports, and teach students the necessary skills they may be missing. |
What if I am contacted by the behavior coach? This is NOT a bad thing. In order to keep parents informed, you may receive a phone call, email, or note home. If you have a question about your child working with the Behavior Coach, please contact me. |
why would my child need to see the behavior coach?Students may see the Behavior Coach for many different reasons. Kelso's Choice
Empowering Kids and Ending Tattling
This program was started last year so your student should be familiar with it. This program helps to empower the students to learn problem solving skills on their own. Every classroom is equipped with a poster that provides choices each student can use to problem solve. Students are encouraged to choose 2 choices on their own before asking an adult for help. Students were taught that small problems can be solved on their own and big problems require an adults intervention immediately. visit www.kelsoschoice.com for more information Helping your child identify the size of their problem can help them learn how to handle situations in a more effective manner. |
The Zones of Regulation
A curriculum designed to foster self-regulation and emotional control
This program teaches students to identify emotions, which zone these emotions fit into (blue, green, yellow, red), and what tools are available to them in order to self-regulate. Self-regulation is a must for students to perform adequately in the classroom.
